The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Backend-Focused) with 3-10 years of experience to help build the core platform behind Kosmos, our AI scientist. We want a strong, product-minded engineer from a fast-moving company who can own backend-heavy features from idea to production. With full deployments at two major pharma companies coming soon, we need more strong engineers on the platform to keep up.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build and maintain the Python backend services, APIs, databases and data pipelines that power our AI agents and research workflows
  • Own features end to end, including work on the frontend with design and frontend teammates
  • Work closely with research, forward-deployed and product teams to ship new AI-driven features
  • Add monitoring, observability and automated testing to keep the platform reliable as enterprise customers come on board
  • Join a small team of about 5 engineers that reports to our future Head of Product Engineering

Application Questions

  1. Are you able to work in San Francisco or NYC and come into the office 3 times per week (Tues-Thurs)? Which office do you prefer?
  2. What does your current tech stack look like, and how would you rate your confidence in Python specifically?
  3. What percentage of your time is spent actually writing code day to day?
  4. How do you use AI tools in your workflow, and how much of your output relies on them? Walk me through a recent example where you had to debug or rework something the AI produced.
  5. Tell me about a product or app you’ve built end to end. How long did it take, what was your stack, what broke along the way, and what would you do differently if you started over?
