The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff with 5-10 years of experience to help build the primitives for the next 1B agents. This person will be a fast-rising, backend-focused engineer who can lead projects end-to-end. The company has a pipeline of 150+ enterprise accounts and is limited by headcount, so we need a senior builder who can lead engineering as the company scales, and who could grow into a CTO-level leader.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and building core agent primitives (sandboxes, LLM gateway/router, evals, memory, observability) that run as sovereign deployments on bare metal
- Building backend systems at scale for governments, banks and Fortune 500 companies, on deals worth $500K-$1.5M in annual contract value (ACV)
- Owning projects end-to-end, from architecture decisions through production, with full autonomy
- Acting as an engineering lead: setting technical direction, mentoring engineers and helping grow the team
- Working with customers to unblock deployments across a fast-growing enterprise pipeline
Why This Role
- Enterprise Traction Ahead of Headcount: 150+ enterprise accounts in the pipeline across government, banks, Fortune 500 and frontier labs, on $500K-$1.5M ACV deals. A 5-person team with $4.5M seed funding — the bottleneck is builders, not demand.
- Build the Agent Infrastructure Layer: The company's primitives (evals, observability, router, auth, permissions, sandboxes, harnesses) support 8+ harnesses and 50+ models, including sovereign bare-metal deployments. This is foundational infra, not an app on top of someone else's platform.
- Path to CTO: Hire #1 senior engineer with an explicit mandate to set technical direction, mentor, grow the team and lead engineering as the company scales.
- Full Ownership & Speed: Own projects from architecture to production with full autonomy, and work directly with enterprise customers to unblock deployments.
Key Requirements
- Proven 0→1 ownership at a startup (Series A to Series D) or Big Tech (FAANG+) building and shipping features end-to-end
- Ability to work on-site in San Francisco, CA (5 days/week)
- 5 - 10 years of experience as a full stack software engineer
- BS in CS or STEM-related field
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Next.js
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm charts, and Docker
- Ability to act as an engineering lead and manage people
Nice to Have
- Worked directly with AI agents, LLMs, or agent infrastructure (evals, sandboxing, observability) in a professional or founder capacity
- 1+ YOE managing engineering teams as a tech lead or manager (3-5 members)
- Deep knowledge of AI agent architectures (sandboxing, observability, evals, benchmarking)
Interview Process
- Intro Call with Gokhan Egri (20 minutes) — A short early conversation with Gokhan Egri so both sides can get a feel for each other. It covers the candidate's background, interest in the company, and general fit.
- Technical Behavioral Interview with a company Engineer (45 minutes) — A technical interview with one of the company's engineers, who rotate on this stage. There is no coding. The engineer asks detailed questions about the candidate's past work: why they chose certain frameworks, what-if questions about other approaches, and how they would change a system to scale it (for example, to a million concurrent users).
- Onsite Project & Presentation (4-5 hours) — An onsite session in San Francisco. The candidate works on a project for 4-5 hours and then presents it to the team.
About the Company
- Space: AI, Devtools
- At a glance: Team of about 5, founded 2024, $4.5M raised
Application Questions
- Why do you think they'd be a great fit?
